Every business generates documents that need to be retained for company reference, historic, legal and Customs and Excise reasons.

The Stor-a-File Group helps businesses maintain control of these documents and by doing so makes them more efficient.

The Stor-a-File Group is made up of two main divisions, Stor-a-File Ltd – the hard copy storage division, and Stor-a-File Imaging Ltd – the scanning and microfilming division.

The Stor-a-File Group is a family owned business and was set up in 1974. Originally trading as Leicester Microfilm Bureau Ltd (LMB), the Company’s name has changed over the years to reflect the changing and expanding nature of what we do. Mergers and buy-outs have occurred which have helped to grow the business to its present size. Stor-a-File currently employs some 120 people in Leicester, Nottingham and London.

We manage documents in three ways;

• Scanning – by scanning documents they can be incorporated into various electronic document management software packages. Stor-a-File Imaging Ltd can scan to a number of formats, tif, pdf, jpg, and uses, as default, a software package called Alchemy. Alchemy allows us to index images with multiple, searchable fields which enables our clients to find, view, print, email and save document images from their desktops. Stor-a-File Imaging Ltd has scanning facilities at Brooklands Road, Leicester and Mandalay Street, Nottingham.

• Microfilm – thought by some to be an outmoded technology, but microfilm is still the best solution where very long term, low space, storage is required; historic documents for example. Stor-a-File Imaging Ltd has microfilm units at its Brooklands Road and its Mandalay Street site.

• Storage – clients frequently just have to keep documents for a period of time, often with low access. Our systems cater for this perfectly although we also have hard copy storage clients that require multiple retrievals on a daily basis. Our O’Neil software enables us to keep track of stored documents throughout their life. Stor-a-File Ltd has secure storage warehouses at Thurmaston, Corby, and London.
