Sir John Moore Foundation is an impressive 17th Century Grade 1 listed building in the village of Appleby Magna

We are a multi functional building – a school by day but in the evenings and at weekends we transform into a venue for weddings, parties, theatre, music, comedy, youth events, fitness and relaxation, language courses and venue hire

Weddings

We have a licence to hold civil wedding ceremonies in the Great Hall which can accommodate 120 guests. Afterwards you can enjoy a formal wedding breakfast or a less formal option of canapés. You can then party the night away in the Great Hall and the award winning cellar bar which in total can accommodate 180 guests.

This unique and flexible venue can cater for all your needs.

The whole venue is yours exclusively for your memorable day. Our team will be happy to discuss any details with you.

Centre Stage Theatre & Music

We host a selection of music and theatre productions organised through Centre Stage. Our programme changes every 3 months, please visit our website for forthcoming productions. These are hugely popular and professional productions which are able to tour local villages with subsidies from the Arts Council, LCC and LDC.

Youth Events

Wednesday night is youth night.

We meet in the Cellar bar:
6.00pm-7.30pm – 8-12 years £2.50 per session
A range of planned activities led by youth leaders

8.00pm-9.30pm – 8-12years Free
Chill out in the cellar with your friends – bring your favourite music or film. Wii, Xbox, table tennis etc available

We have a variety of spaces that can be hired either on a one of basis or a more regular basis. Please speak to a member of our team who will be happy to discuss your requirements.
