Funhouse Comedy Club was established in 2004 and now runs at over 20 venues, booking major league pro acts who appear on shows like “Mock The Week”, “Phoenix Nights” and “Never Mind The Buzzcocks” such as Mark Watson, Jim Jeffries, Rhod Gilbert and Justin Moorehouse, as well as bringing through some of the hottest new talent on the circuit.

The clubs are run in a friendly, relaxed way and appeal to a broad age group. At all venues we aim to bring you a great night of comedy whilst keeping ticket prices as low as we possibly can.

Funhouse Comedy’s founder, Spiky Mike is resident compere at most of the nights as well as also appearing at many other comedy clubs throughout the country.

We are also able to book comedians for private functions or can even run a full night of comedy at your venue.

It is also our aim to discover and promote new talent. Complete novices are welcome to take their first step into comedy on our legendary “Should I Stay or Should I Go?” new acts nights.

NINA’S MONKEYING AROUND @ the Lyric rooms

at Funhouse Comedy Club taking place on 2010-03-10

NINA’S MONKEYING AROUND

‘Glamorous ventriloquist’ is not the usual description for someone who makes a stuffed puppet talk. But when Nina takes to the stage at the Magners Funhouse comedy night at the Lyric Rooms in Ashby, it will become obvious why it is an appropriate description.

For a girl with a degree in philosophy under her belt, Nina’s sense of silliness knows no bounds.

Described by The Guardian as having ‘dark good looks, warm stage presence and deft comic timing,’ she has enjoyed rising success since she started out in 2002.

And her talents do not stop with the monkey – she spent two years at the Royal Shakespeare Company and played Dylan Moran’s girlfriend in Channel 4’s BAFTA-winning ‘Black Books’.

Also on stage is Irish comic actor Paddy Lennox who combines topical and observational humour to bring out the big laughs.

As an actor Paddy has clocked up a pretty impressive list of theatre, film and TV credits. Last Christmas he played Stanley in the Ray Cooney farce, “Run For Your Wife.”

And he has been a hit with the critics.

“Excellent stand-up, Paddy Lennox, is laid-back and charismatic. Vastly entertaining.” Three Weeks.

Compere Spiky Mike said: “Both comics are busy honing their acts for the Edinburgh Fringe so expect nothing less than a top-quality night.”

Tickets are £8 in advance from www.funhousecomedy.co.uk or call (01522) 9525050.
