Leicestershire Education Business Company

Leicestershire Education Business Company (LEBC) inspires and motivates young people by developing partnerships between schools, business and the wider community. We offer a range of activities which give a focus to young people about work, through work and for work, by linking schools and colleges, with the support of volunteers from the world of business and the wider community.

This supports young people preparing for the exciting challenges ahead in their working life.
Companies, whatever their size, can be involved in a way which is appropriate for them.

Employees can go into schools to take part in a one day event which challenges young people to think about how businesses operate, or be part of challenging the stereotype re working roles, develop knowledge of what is expected in the work place, and much more.

Businesses can offer to take a young person on a work experience placement, or offer to host a visit from a small group of students or even host a teacher visit for a day, when the teacher comes to see how their subject operates in the workplace.
There is a growing need for local businesses to get involved with their local school.

There are opportunities in either primary or secondary schools. Volunteering in education is a rewarding experience for a business and provides opportunities for interaction with the future workforce as well as an opportunity to develop an existing workforce.

Allowing company employees to interact with one another out of their working environment can encourage a more positive working relationship. Contributing to your local community raises the morale of staff and gives companies an ideal opportunity to raise their local profile.

LEBC works in conjunction with a company to identify the programmes or activities most suited to its resources. The time commitment can vary from one day in the year to one hour a week.
Young people’s learning is enriched by contact with people from outside the classroom.

They bring a fresh approach to learning and demonstrate the relevance of personal and practical skills required in the world of work. By offering employees an opportunity to volunteer, businesses have a chance to show they care both about the local community and their staff.
If you would like to discuss this further please contact Maria Gamble at LEBC on 0116 2407000 or email maria.gamble@leics-ebc.org.uk.
