The LeicestHERday Trust is a non for profit organisation. Set up in 2001 by the Rt. Hon Patricia Hewitt, then Minister for women, who put together an influential group of women with a mission to see what could be done locally to make a difference to women.

Today, LeicestHERday has grown into a full time charity, run by women for women. LeicestHERday not only encourages and celebrates women throughout Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland, but we also provide excellent contacts and links through all the people we interact with. The main way we do this is through putting on events. We also currently have around 1,000 members subscribed and this is growing at an exciting rate. Although our primary aim is to engage and empower women, we welcome men and boys to all our events. Empowering women has a direct positive effect on family, friends and the community.

Events:
Conference – This is our main event each year, which co-insides with International Women’s Day and is held at The Walker’s Stadium each March. Bringing together women from across the county, the 2008 theme is addressing the environment, educating ourselves on what can realistically be done to help our world and what we as women can do to make a small difference.

Fit and Fun Day – This annual event both educates and enthuses people to become fit both inside and out.

Opening Doors – These informal events take support out into the communities, whether it be childcare, work, training, financial or healthcare, ‘Opening Doors’ can point you in the right direction.

Mind Your Own Business – For women in the early stages of business start up, this event provides all the necessary information and advice needed. This includes inspirational speakers, workshops and information on training, support, finances and more.

Celebration Garden Party – held each September this event enables members of the community to nominate a woman in their life for something special they have done, no matter how big or small, this event is designed to rejoice in the inspirational women throughout the area.
