Concordia Choir - Ashby
A local service provider from Ashby-de-la-Zouch
Concordia is a relatively new choir in Ashby de la Zouch, formed in September 2007 by members of staff and friends of Manor House School. Since those early days we have expanded to become a community choir with a core of twenty-five members.
We enjoy singing a variety of four part pieces for mixed voices and under the direction of our Musical Director, James Allen, we have built up a repertoire of songs for public performances. These range from madrigals to calypsos, from traditional Maori to Lennon and McCartney, some accompanied, some a cappella.
We are a friendly group in which the emphasis is on enjoying what we do and we welcome singers of all abilities and backgrounds. Beginners are welcome too (not all of us can read music) although some musical background is obviously helpful.
We meet every Monday evening 7.15 to 9.15 at Manor House School, South Street, Ashby de la Zouch, LE65 1BR. Do come along to meet us and don’t forget to bring your coffee mug.
We are now facing increasing demands for our services as we are becoming better known through our public performances. We continue to add new songs to our repertoire to keep the experience fresh for both ourselves and our audiences. We have performed at venues both indoors and out, including Christmas markets in Ashby de la Zouch and Ibstock, a National Trust Supporters’ Group carol service at Staunton Harold church, St Helen’s Church, Ashby, Copt Oak Church in Charnwood and the Ferrers Centre at Staunton Harold. We look forward to taking Concordia to many more.
